Stop the Presses! "Who Knew?" News You Can Use:
On November 8, 2016 America elected Donald Trump as the President of the United States.
On December 16th, 2016 I applied for a job as Upstate Political Director for the Working Families Party.
Much to my surprise, they hired me and I started on February 23rd 2017.
For some years now, I have been sharing observations of life on the North Coast of America from the vantage point of an Irish-Samurai. I am not a white guy. My fraternal grandmother was (mostly) Irish and my maternal grandmother was Japanese. The Second World War brought my father and mother together in the Hawaiian Islands and then back to my father's heartland -- the Mohawk Valley in Upstate New York.
I spent a half dozen years or so blogging for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. And over two decades fighting on behalf of working families in the building trades and as a political activist in my City. I retired in 2014 to what I thought would be a life of sailing, writing and political activism ... but this time as a member of the Working Families Party with a quieter voice.
And I started on online guide to theatre in Rochester -- Rochester on Stage -- a labor of love that I thought would be an outlet for my creative side.
But then life happened, and the Presidential Election of 2016 changing the face of the Country I love to something unrecognizable to me.
It brought me out of retirement to work as Upstate Political Director for the Working Families Party.
